Foyle student wins IT prize

PUPILS at Foyle got an insight into the IT industry at a technology event recently, with Christopher Doherty, winning a competition for the best idea for a new software application.

On Wednesday, April 17, Year 13 and 14 ICT pupils from Foyle College took part in the event organised by BringItOn NI.

Foyle College students had the chance to: speak with employers from the top IT companies in Northern Ireland; engage with students from local universities who are studying IT related courses; get an insight into App development; get an insight into the world of graphics and software engineering.

Pupils were given the opportunity to enter a competition which involved coming up with an idea for an application. There were over 350 entries and the winner was Christopher Doherty, Year 13, Foyle College. He came up with an iMeal application for use in school canteens which saw him win an iPad mini.
