Frank gets MBE from the Queen

Frank Mervyn Stewart from Ballymoney received the MBE accolade for his voluntary service to the community and WaterAid in Northern Ireland.

Commenting Mervyn Storey said: “To be recognised by Her Majesty is a great honour. It is undoubtedly even more so in this significant year celebrating at it does the Queens 90th birthday.

“I would pay particular tribute to local man Frank Stewart on receiving his MBE for voluntary service and Water Aid. I have known Frank for many years and have always found him to be a man of hard work, dedication and commitment. This recognition reflects just that.

“I would also congratulate Chief Superintendent Alasdair Robinson formerly stationed in Ballymoney in receiving his MBE.

“I was pleased to be among the first to congratulate my party colleague Sir Jeffery Donaldson MP on his Knighthood, along with colleagues Gordon Dunne MLA and Cllr Thomas Hogg on receiving their MBEs.”

Retired head teacher, John Platt, has also been honoured for services to education for a career spanning almost 40 years with an MBE.

John began his teaching career at Leaney Primary School in Ballymoney before coming back to Coleraine at Harpur’s Hill. The former headmaster at Millburn Primary School, John paid tribute to the children and colleagues that made his formidable career a blessing.

Dr Pamela Logue, a specialist in genito-urinary medicine and former GP at Portrush Medical Centre until her retirement in September 2014, is also to receive an MBE for services to medicine.

Originally working in hospital medicine, Dr Logue’s career spanned 41 years with 34 spent at Portrush.

She originally from Armagh, Dr Logue studied medicine at Edinburgh University. After graduating she worked in Ballymoney as a trainee and then worked as single-handed doctor at Murvue Terrace in Portrush.
