Free computer courses on offer at local libraries

LIBRARIES NI is offering an exciting training programme for people who want to find out more about technology and computers in local libraries.

These free Got IT? and Go ON courses demonstrate how using technology can enhance your life and Finaghy and Lisburn City Libraries will be holding Go ON courses from January to March 2013.

Got IT? is a computer help programme to support people with little or no knowledge of computers, while Go ON takes these skills one step further.

Go ON allows people to enhance their computer skills by offering help to do lots of everyday tasks on the computer, such as paying bills, health enquiries and keeping in touch with friends.

Go ON gives you the opportunity to enjoy one or more of five subjects - Libraries in your Living Room; Relax and Learn; Get That Job; Your Health Online and Organise Your Life Online, with experienced staff on hand to help and support you from start to finish.

Kim Aiken, Learning Development Manager, Libraries NI, explained: “We would like to encourage people to call into any of the libraries and sign up to Go ON with improving their computer proficiency. As a library member, you can then use computers with free internet access to practice your new skills in the relaxed environment of your local library.”

Got IT? and Go ON sessions are free and you must be a library member to participate but with free membership for everyone, just bring a form of identification which includes your address and the staff will do the rest.

Interested in signing up to one of these courses? Call into your local library and find out more. Everyone is welcome and pre-booking is essential.
