Free concert in Wallace Park

Lisburn City Council is hosting a free open air concert in Wallace Park featuring X Factor finalists Rough Copy and Luke Friend.

The concert, to celebrate the council conferring the Freedom of the City on uniformed youth organisations, will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 3.30pm to 6.00pm.

A civic ceremony will be held at Lagan Valley Island earlier in the day before the city’s uniformed youth organisations will parade from the Island, leaving at 2.30pm, through Castle Street, Market Square and Railway Street, arriving at Wallace Park at the Magheralave Road to enjoy the Concert.

Public admission to the Concert will be using a wristband system. Wristbands will be available for collection at the Lagan Valley LeisurePlex and Brook Activity Centre from 4.00pm – 7.00pm on Tuesday April 15.

Following the public distribution of wristbands on April 15 any remaining wristbands will be issued on Wednesday April 16 at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex Football Factory from 10.00am.

Speaking at the Launch, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure Services Committee, Alderman Paul Porter, said that the concert was organised to celebrate the efforts and the contributions of the Youth Uniformed Organisations to life in Lisburn.

“This Concert is our way of saying thank you to all our young people who make such a difference to our city.

“Our open air concerts have proved massively popular in the past and this year’s line up is sure to attract thousands to Wallace Park.

“I have no doubt that it will be a great family afternoon out,” said Alderman Porter.

A maximum of four wristbands will be available per person and must be collected by an adult at either of the collection venues. An adult must accompany children under 12 years to the concert. The public entrance to the concert will be via the Belfast Road entrance only. Gates will open at 2.00pm.

The Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Margaret Tolerton, said that the concert would be a fitting finale to the day’s celebrations. “I hope as many people as possible will come and watch the Uniformed Youth Organisations Parade through the city centre on Saturday 26th April before joining us for an afternoon of musical entertainment with Rough Copy and Luke Friend in Wallace Park,” said Councillor Tolerton.

Please note there will be parking restrictions in the vicinity of Wallace Park on Saturday, April 26.
