Free mindfulness course

Finaghy Library invites you to learn the practice of Mindfulness during a free six week course starting on Friday 15 May, from 10am – 12noon, led by Caroline Stewart, founding Director of the Mindfulness Centre NI.

This course will be held every Friday for six weeks until 19 June and will teach participants Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. These techniques develop our ability to bring our attention to the present moment and take notice of thoughts, feelings, body sensations and the world around us. Practicing mindfulness can help us to let go of negative thoughts and feelings that can cause us to feel stressed, anxious or low.

Caroline Stewart is the founder of The Mindfulness Centre NI and trained at Oxford to teach Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Caroline has been practicing mindfulness and working as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist for more than 10 years. She is committed to helping people find skills and tools that will enable them to cope with the stresses that life causes for most of us at some point in our lives. This course is one of many planned as part of Health in Mind, a partnership project which is funded under the Big Lottery Fund’s Live and Learn programme. The project offers a wide range of positive mental health and wellbeing resources and services in libraries and other community venues. Libraries NI is the lead partner, working along with Action Mental Health, Aware Defeat Depression, CAUSE and MindWise.
