Free pension advice offered

Mid and East Antrim Citizens Advice Bureau is offering support through Pension Wise, a free and impartial government guidance service,

Michele Campbell, district manager of Mid & East Antrim CAB said: “We have a strong history of helping people acrossNorthern Ireland.

“We already support people with many of the issues affecting retirement so we’re pleased to be providing pension guidance through the Pension Wise service.”

Pension reforms came into effect earlier this year, which gave people over 55 the opportunity to decide what they do with their defined contribution pension pot.

Aidan George, a Pension Wise guidance specialist based in CAB’s Larne office added: “The recent changes to pensions have given people more flexibility than ever before in how they access their pension benefits, and provide for an income in retirement.

“The decisions you make regarding how and when pension benefits are taken can be one of the most important decision’s you’ll ever make.

“For this reason it is crucial to fully understand all of the options available.

“Pension Wise can offer you a free, impartial guidance session to give you a greater understanding of all of the options and enable you to make a more informed decision.”
