Free school meals applications opened

For the 2015-2016 school year free school meals and/or school uniform and/or physical education clothing allowance can be awarded if you are currently in receipt of one of the revelant benefits.

These include: Income Support, Income-Based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, The Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit with an annual taxable income of £16,190 or less.

It can also be awarded if you are an Asylum Seeker supported by the Home Office National Asylum Support Service (NASS), or if your child has a statement of special educational needs and is designated to require a special diet.

Pupils must be in full-time education at school/college.

Applications are open now and parents are encouraged to apply for their entitlement.

Only one application form is required to be completed which can be obtained by contacting your regional office of this authority or your child’s school.

Forms are also available in your local Social Security Office or Citizens Advice Bureau Office.
