Free sports courses on offer in Carrick area

"SPORT has the power to change the world" - that was the message from the new University of Ulster Sports Academy programme, which is now underway in Carrick.

The programme will see a series of courses delivered in local area over the coming months. The previous course attracted a range of sports leaders from various groups in the town, including Carrick Rugby Club, Carrick Rangers and the Carrick Twilight Football Programme.

It focused on sports leadership and social integration, examining the role that sport can play in bringing people together and building positive relations.

Next up in the Carrick area is a course on sport and good relations. This is a three hour interactive workshop, highlighting how sport can develop respect within your club and how to ensure your club is open to all.

Places are still available for the event, which is to be held tomorrow (Friday).

The programme is part of the PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body and delivered by the CAN PEACE III Partnership.
