French breakfast raises funds for mountain rescue charity

PUPILS at Jordanstown Schools, a specialist school for pupils with a visual or auditory impairment, have adopted Mountain Rescue as their chosen charity.

This charity was chosen by the pupils following the tragic death of a former teacher, Eamonn Murphy, and his brother John in an avalanche in Scotland last year.

A fundraising event was organised by the school’s Pupil Council in December. The ‘French Breakfast’ was for pupils, staff and invited guests, including Rev J. C. Irvine, the Chair of the Board of Governors, and Brian Symington, Director of RNID Northern Ireland.

Members of the Pupil Council took customers’ orders and served up a gastronomic delight of continental fare including, of course, croissants and coffee. They were also responsible for ‘cleaning up’ after the event!

The Pupil Council wishes to say a special thank you to the manager of the Sainsbury’s store in Carrickfergus for the kind donation of croissants.
