Fresh challenge for Corr

Following last week’s news that community worker Kieran Corr had been sacked from his position at St Anthony’s Centre by the Catholic Church, the Derrymacash man has now thrown his hat into the ring for the council elections.

Mr Corr has added his name to the candidates list for the forthcoming new council elections for the Armagh Banbridge Craigavon Council and will be a candidate in the new Craigavon area.

He will be the only independent candidate running for this area.

Mr Corr said: “It is my intention to represent the people and not a political party. I will represent everyone in Craigavon regardless of colour, age, race or creed.

I was very proud to have previously been a councillor for 10 years and would be honoured to be given the opportunity again to represent Craigavon again.

“There is unfinished work to be done and I want to represent the people of Craigavon Ward to see the job finished. As the only ‘Independent’ candidate I want to fully represent the people of Craigavon views, and not a party’s.

“Over the years I worked tirelessly for the community, and I support all the local schools, businesses and the regeneration of Craigavon.

“If elected I will act on the true concerns of the local electorate and will be a representative who is not bound by party rules and regulations.”

“I am delighted that the new Craigavon Ward has taken in the areas of Silverwood, Derrytrasna and Derrymacash. I would love the opportunity to help my neighbours and friends from these areas.

Kieran is married to Laura and they have three children - Caitriona, Ciaran and Conor.

He is well known for producing musicals and talent shows and was the founding member of Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society and was a former deputy Mayor of Craigavon.
