Friends fundraise for children with cancer

A NUMBER of energetic Ballymena locals pulled on their walking boots recently, taking part in the Causeway ten mile walk.

Geoff Loughlin, Eric McBride, Jim McCaw, Francis Welsh, Eric Murphy, Lynsey Brown, Claire McCoster, Martin Kinnear and Rodney McBride walked from Causeway Centre to Dunseverick Castle to support children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent, a cause close to their hearts.

The team of walkers raised a staggering 624.00 for CLIC Sargent.

Fionnuala Savage, Community Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, said: “I would like to thank each of the walkers for taking part in the Causeway Walk and raising such a large amount of funds for CLIC Sargent. The money raised will be spent on local children and young people across Northern Ireland.”

Each week in Northern Ireland two children or young people are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia. CLIC Sargent Northern Ireland acts as a lifeline keeping families together when the unimaginable happens.

It provides clinical, psychosocial, emotional and financial care and support to them and their families.
