Friends’ in arts scheme

GCSE and Year 9 Art and Design students recently took part in workshops to create artwork for “Abracadabra!”, an exhibition which recently opened at the ISLAND Arts Centre in Lisburn.

As part of the Community Arts programme co-ordinated by Lesley Wilson, the Community Arts Officer at the Island Arts Centre, the outreach project gave young artists at Friends’ the opportunity to work alongside local artists Andrea McCullough Alderdice and Anushiya Sundaralingam.

Inspired by the illustrations of Korky Paul in the Winnie the Witch series of books for children, the pupils developed their skills in ceramics and textiles through workshops held in the Art and Design Department at Friends’ and the ISLAND Arts Centre.
