Frustrating time for boss Taylor

PORTSTEWART remain at the bottom of Championship Two, after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to PSNI.

The Seasiders have failed to hit the back of the net so far this season, but manager, Gary Taylor is hoping for a change in fortunes.

“We are creating plenty of chances, but we just can’t finish. It’s very frustrating for us.

“As time runs down, we are snatching at things and getting nervous,” admitted Gary.

Despite chances from James Peden, Andy Todd and Bryan Tosh it was the visitors who took the points with a goal in the second half.

“We were caught sleeping,” said Gary.

“They took a quick free kick and we just didn’t deal with it. The goal was disappointing because to be honest there wasn’t much between the teams.”

Gary is hoping to bolster his squad with a new striker, who he hopes will be on-board ahead of Saturday’s league tie with Armagh City.

“Armagh are a good side, but I am hopeful to have a new striker on board by then, so lets hope we can turn things around.

“I believe we are not a bad side.

“We have some good players on board, but I think this striker will boost us a little.

“The player will be coming to us on loan, things have been agreed with both Clubs, so we’re waiting on the paper work to be completed.”

On the injury front, Gary added: “Mervyn Nicholl is going to see a specialist about his ankle and Ryan McAllister is hoping to get a few Reserve games under his belt in the coming weeks, so that’s a good sign. Graham Vauls managed the last 15 minutes on Saturday, so it’s good to have these players on the mend.”
