Frustration after car chase crash

WITNESSES said a policeman took his frustration out on a wall after his patrol car collided with another vehicle in the town.

The incident happened on the Lough Road junction with Victoria Street at around 9.20pm last Tuesday, July 27.

Eye witnesses said the car took the turn into Victoria Street 'too fast' and collided with a stationary car.

"They looked like they were chasing someone," he said.

"Someone must have cut through the park and they were trying to cut them off.

"But they came around the corner into Victoria Street too fast and hit a car."

He added: "The policeman then kicked his own car before taking his frustrations out on the wall of the shop and mumbling something to himself.

"He was obviously very angry with himself."

The police said a patrol car was involved in a minor 'RTC' with another car on the Lough Road and Victoria Street junction at around 9.18pm.

A spokeswoman said the incident happened as a routine patrol and police were not involved in a pursuit.
