Full house at Portrush Town Hall sale

PORTRUSH Town Hall was almost filled to capacity for the clearance sale of the contents of 'Marlborough House', Kerr Street, Portrush, the home of the late Norman Maen.

The large turnout was anticipated following five busy viewing sessions at the house and buyers travelled from all over the province and some Southern buyers also attended the sale, while some attended the preview and bid over the busy telephone lines, which were red hot all evening.

Top price of the sale was 2,600 for a very good Four Door Breakfast Sideboard. The sideboard which was in very good condition and a lovely colour created a lot of interest, and made over the presale estimate of 1,000-1,200, and despite province wide competition, ended up with a local buyer.

Two superb Full Height Mirrors, which were the talk of the evening, again generated amazing interest resulting in 2,000 for one and 1,650 for the other. While one remained relatively local the other was purchased by a Southern buyer.
