Full-time Chaine FM plan gathers pace

Local people are being offered the opportunity to help establish Larne’s first full-time community radio station.

Having been awarded the appropriate licence by media regulator Ofcom, Larne Community Media is now in the process of transforming Chaine FM – which is traditionally on the airwaves in the run up to Christmas – into one of the largest community radio stations in Northern Ireland coverage wise.

It is planned that the station will broadcast on a full-time basis to the entire borough – including areas such as Glenarm and Carnlough which currently struggle to receive any FM radio services.

Stephen said: “We received incredible support from the public during our three and a half weeks of broadcasting. We would like to thank all our advertisers and sponsors who ensure that we can cover our costs and have great prizes to offer.

Noel Hyndman, Chaine FM’s station manager commended the commitment of all the volunteers who presnted shows.”
