The church hosted the annual ‘Beauty by Design’ event on May 30 and 31 at the Woodburn Road premises.

The conference was the second the church has held in its new building after its move from the Knockagh Road.

Speakers at the two-day event included church members Kate McCrory and Gwen Smyth, with attendees travelling from the east Antrim and greater Belfast areas.

A spokesperson for the church said: “The event was a great success with 250 women attending both days. There was lots of fun and fellowship and many women left the conference inspired to achieve their dreams.”

Over £1300 was collected at the conference in aid of Invisible Traffick. The County Down-based charity aims to raise awareness about the existence of human trafficking by speaking to local communities about the horrors that are taking place on their own doorsteps.

Last year, similar numbers of local women attended the Beauty by Design conference, which in 2013 had a ‘Bond Girls are Forever’ theme.

Meanwhile, Jordan Victory Church has also opened a Trussell Trust foodbank this month.

It is the fourth distribution centre for Northern Ireland, with foodbanks already operating in Dundonald, Coleraine and Larne.

The service is designed to help people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families and works on a referral basis.

The church is welcoming volunteers from all backgrounds to help with sorting and packing food items at their warehouse.
