Fun family event at Larne Library

LARNE Library has invited local families to spend some quality time together and help celebrate National Families Week.

Taking place from Monday, May 31 to Sunday, June 6, National Families Week is the largest celebration of family life in the UK, offering families the chance to take part in a range of fun and free activities.

And the library on Pound Street will be joining in the fun by holding a story reading and craft session, where children will decorate paper chain people to look just like their family. The completed chains will then be joined together and hung around the children’s corner for all to admire. This fun family event will take place on Saturday, June 5 at 11.00am. Contact the library to book a place.

National Family Week encourages families to play, learn, eat, read and be active together. Libraries NI was keen to be part this initiative to promote the benefits of quality family time and to encourage a healthier approach to family life.

Kim Aiken, Learning Development Manager with Libraries NI said books at bedtime have a positive outcome for all children, giving children a love of books from a young age and improve the basic skills a child needs to succeed.
