Funding boost for Larne CAB

THE Larne branch of the Citizen's Advice Bureau has received a welcome cash injection of more than £5,300.

The funding boost, awarded by the Department for Social Development, aims to strengthen advice services in the local area.

Councillors approved the grant at the latest meeting of the development committee in Smiley Buildings. A council report said that a meeting had taken place between representatives of the CAB and Larne’s director of development, Linda McCullough, to determine if the money could be put to good use before the end of the current financial year.

It added: “Members of the CAB indicated that in the current economic climate, they are receiving numerous requests to provide debt advice and the additional funding would allow the organisation to give a better service in the area.”
