Funding for training schemes at Larne YMCA

Larne YMCA is looking forwarded to delivering new training programmes following a funding boost of £24,000.

Awarded under the North Eastern Education and Library Board’s Special Intervention Programme, the funds will allow the group to deliver the Diversity through Sport project.

This provides accredited training to young people from four different youth groups.

The Good Relations II project will also train 10 young people as peer leaders who will then deliver a Good Relations programme to a further 30 young people.

The Association have also been finalising their application to Larne Policing and Community Safety Partnership.

If successful, it will allow them to deliver an anti-bullying programme as well as investigate road safety issues in the vicinity of the YMCA with a view to taking remedial action.

Meanwhile, an autumn clear out recently gave the After Schools group the chance to make interesting use of some unwanted items, with a ‘junk art’ session.
