Fundraiser benefits charities

One of North Antrim’s biggest annual charity events has taken place with three organisations benefitting from the efforts of an organiser who, so far, has raised £90,000 in just over four years for good causes.

Two themed nights in a specially erected marquee at The Scenic Inn pub will mean thousands of pounds for the charities – Macmillan Cancer Care, Muscular Dystrophy and Children’s Hospice. A sponsored parachute jump was also undertaken by 17 brave volunteers.

Money is still coming in and when the final tally is known representatives of each charity will receive an equal share.

The Scenic’s Shirley McKinley has been a tireless fund-raiser for charities, raising a total of £90,000 and she is determined to get to the magical £100,000 figure in the near future with the support of her customers and the local community.

Shirley says she cannot thank enough all those who contributed to the two-night event. “The support was overwhelming from everyone and I am indebted to them all,” she said.
