He died a week ago on Saturday November 21 while on his way to a kayaking trip in the Kalgoorlie area.

Alan’s family told the Mail that his remains will return home to Craigavon on Tuesday.

His wake will be at his parent’s Terry and Maureen Haughey’s home at Drumglass, Craigavon.

His funeral will be on Thursday at St Anthony’s Church, Craigavon at 12pm.

He is survived by his mother and father Maureen and Terry Haughey and his sisters Christine and Nicola and his brother Mark, his girlfriend Elaine as well as eight nieces and nephews and wide family circle.

The Haughey family have set up a Just Giving page to help raise funds for the organisations which have helped during the past week since his sudden passing.

The page states: “We’re raising £5,000 to The Claddagh Association and the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust because of their help and assistance in getting Alan home.

“Alan Haughey was 28 years old. A lust for life, travel, music and anything mechanical. He will be very sadly missed by all his friends and family.”

Already the page has achieved almost half of the £5k they wish to raise.
