Funeral director’s bike ride

A WELL-KNOWN local man is appealing for sponsors in a 50 km charity cycle around Strangford Lough.

Peter Mullholland of Mulholland’s Funeral Directors is organising the event for the second year running in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

He aims to follow a circular route around Strangford, starting and finishing at Downpatrick racecourse.

“Last year I followed a 30 km route and raised a total of £600; that ended up being even more when Gift Aid was taken into account,” he said. “I’m hoping to match or even exceed that amount this year and I would appeal to people to consider donating as it’s a very worthy cause.”
