Funeral held for respected Cookstown business man and BB leader

Mr Charles who ran a textiles business in the town passed away in hospital on Tuesday.

He was the much loved husband of Norma, and father of Stephen and Ruth, and dear brother of Muriel, Eric, Denis, Ronnie, Joyce, Phyllis, Averil, May,Heather, Colin and the late Gean and Norman.

As well as being a respected business man , Mr Charles was well-known for his dedication to the Boy’s Brigade.

Cookstown Sons of William Flute Band have paid tribute.

“We would like to pass on our condolences to the Charles family on the death of Kenny Charles,” they said.

“Kenny was a dedicated bands man; LOL member; and leader of the Boy’s Brigade in Cookstown for decades.

“Many of the members in our band knew Mr Charles and had the utmost respect for him.

“A true gentleman and one who will be missed.”
