Funeral to be held for Lavey GAA player Seán Conway on Friday

The funeral of the young Lavey Gaelic footballer Seán Conway who died suddenly this week, will be held on Friday.

Posting on their Facebook page, the Erin’s Own Lavey club said “the funeral will depart from Seán’s home at McKenna’s Lane, Mullaghboy Road on Friday at 10.15am for 11.00am Requiem Mass at St Mary’s Church, Lavey”.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Conway family at this time.”

Hundreds of people have paid tribute to the popular 24-year-old.

“Heartbreaking to hear....RIP Sean. Top top lad,” one person wrote on Facebook.

Other tributes included: “Such sad news. Lovely fella. Thoughts with his family.”

“I only knew you a few years in school but you were such a lovely genuine caring fella who took the time to get to know us all.”

“I watched him grow from a lovely wee boy into a true gentleman, always so friendly and modest - thinking of all Sean’s family at this very sad time.”
