Further investigation needed after post mortem of pensioner found dead at Dungannon crash scene

It is understood that a post mortem has been carried, but that further investigation is needed after reports that he may have suffered a heart attack before the crash.

The father-of-four, whom police have not yet named, is believed to be from the south Tyrone area.

It is understood he was driving a car which was involved in a serious collision with a lorry near Granville Industrial Estate at around 9am on November 16.

PSNI Inspector David Nixon said: “A man, aged in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is currently ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the collision and a post mortem examination is due to be carried out to determine the cause of death.”

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended a road traffic collision at the junction of the Granville Road involving a lorry and a car.

“It received a call to the scene at 9.35am.

“We dispatched a rapid response paramedic and two accident and emergency crews to the scene, the first arriving within six minutes. No patients were taken from the scene.”
