Fusion Theatre cast their ‘two Tams’

Both Katie and Jonah will share the role of Tam in Fusion Theatre’s latest show, Miss Saigon, to be staged in September.

The youngsters will play the part of the young child of an American soldier and a Vietnamese girl who fall in love, only to be separated during the fall of Saigon.

Ian Milford, Fusion’s Director and Musical Director said: “Not only did we need a child that could confidently perform the role of Tam, we also needed a child that wasn’t going to be overwhelmed by our huge cast.

“Both Katie and Jonah are natural performers and have fitted in very well with the rest of the cast who are enjoying the experience of having little ones in the show.”

Colleen Bell, Katie’s mother said: “We have always been big fans of Fusion’s shows, so when the opportunity came up for Katie to audition we jumped at the chance.

“Katie loves performing and says she wants to be an actress when she grows up so she is very fortunate to get her ‘first break’ with Fusion.”

Miss Saigon is a classic love story has been said to be one of the most stunning theatrical spectacles of all time.

In this specially adapted version of Miss Saigon, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg (the creators of Les Miserables), along with Richard Maltby,Jr., bring Puccini’s Madame Butterfly to the modern world in a moving testament to the human spirit and a scathing indictment of the tragedies of war.

In the turmoil of the Vietnam War, an American soldier and a Vietnamese girl fall in love, only to be separated during the fall of Saigon.

Their struggles to find each other over the ensuing years ends in tragedy for her and a fighting chance for the child he never knew he had.

Memorable songs from the show include ‘The Heat is On in Saigon’, ‘Sun and Moon’, ‘I Still Believe’ and ‘Last Night of the World’.

Directed and Musically Directed by Ian Milford and choreographed by Rebecca Leonard, the show runs from Wednesday September 10 until Saturday September 13.
