GAA trees for Council ground

MOYLE Council has agreed trees can be planted on their property by the GAA to mark the 125th anniversary of the sporting organisation.

Sinn Fein councillor Oliver McMullan said Cushendall GAA Club would like to plant ash trees in the Cottage Wood site in the town.

He said there are no cost implications for the Council as the trees would be supplied.

The councillor said: “It would be something the schoolchildren and the whole parish would be involved in. It would be something they would look up to and look after.”

Sinn Fein councillor Paudie McShane said GAA clubs from Armoy, Carey and Ballycastle are interested in planting ash trees at the Quay Road Playing Fields in Ballycastle.
