Gael Linn quiz title for Loreto team

A TEAM from Loreto College Coleraine, Specialist School, has won the Ulster title in the annual Gael Linn Irish Quiz, held in Lurgan at the end of January.

Students Eils Nic Con Midhe, Conchr Andarsan, Marc Gormaile and Piaras Mac an tSaoir took the title having beaten off stiff competition at an earlier regional heat, held at the White Horse Hotel, Derry to go through to the finals. After much jubilation, the preparations began once again for the Ulster finals.

With confidence and self-belief, the four revised intently during the lengthy journey to Lurgan, County Armagh with Loreto College Irish teacher Bean U Mhaolin as their pilot.

The Ashbourne Hotel, Lurgan proved an inspirational venue for the four as they once again beat off stiff competition from many schools throughout Ulster.

Loreto principal, Brian Lenehan, commented that, considering that there were upwards of 2000 participants in the entire competition, the four should be most proud of themselves.

Their Irish teachers, Bean U Mhianin and Bean U Mhaolin, most certainly are.
