The £300 million plant at Carnduff would be powered by compressed air energy, stored in caverns excavated from salt layers 750 metres below ground level.

“The GES Project Team plans to update the community at Larne on the progress it is making in developing the design for the project and provide an opportunity for the community and others interested in the project to engage with them and input their views and information to the evolving design,” said GES head Brendan McGrath.

See next week’s Larne Times (in shops from Wednesday, March 12) for details of consultations in Islandmagee, Glynn and Larne between Tuesday, March 25 and Thursday 27.
