Gambled the money he stole

A LURGAN man who stole £40 from a coat pocket gambled the money, Craigavon court heard last week.

He was 23-year-old Tony McCrenor, of Castle Lane, Lurgan, and he admitted the theft of money on January 11 this year.

The court heard that police were called to the Praxis care home where the manager reported that 40 had been taken from his jacket in his office.

The defendant admitted stealing the money and gambling it. He said he had a gambling addiction.

Mr Gerry Drain, representing the defendant, handed in a report to the District Judge, saying his client had learning difficulties.

He told the court that the money had been paid back.
