Gang of youths asked to come forward after man's face busted in Foyle street

A large gang of young people gathered in Londonderry city centre in the early hours of Saturday morning are being asked to come forward to police after a man's face was injured in a city centre assault.

Police are appealing for information following the report of an assault in the Foyle Street area at around 4.45am in the early hours of Saturday, March 12.

The victim was assaulted by an unknown man. He sustained cuts and bruises to his face.

Constable Graeme Reynolds said: “There was a large crowd of young people in the vicinity of Foyle Street at the time of this assault and I would appeal to any of them who may have witnessed this incident to contact Police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
