Garage ‘impacts’ on Conservation Area

The applicants are Mr and Mrs Dermott McQuillan and the location is 4 Shanes Park.

A meeting of Moyle Council was told there were five letters of objection and they made reference to the area being a Conservation Area and also noise from vehicle repairs.

Planners said the garage detracts from the character of Cushendun Conservation Area and Shanes Park and is not in sympathy with the characteristic built form of the area and does not conform with the guidance set out in the Cushendun Conservation Area document.

Cllr Catherine McCambridge said: “We would have to respect Conservation Area of Cushendun. The nature of this building was not in keeping with the Conservation Area and there were complaints.”
