Gareth designs logo for friends’ group

MEMBERS of Larne Adult Centre have risen to the challenge of designing a new logo for their support group.

The Friends of Larne Adult Centre was formed almost 20 years ago and since then it has dedicated itself to working for the benefit of the members in a quiet almost anonymous manner.

However, the committee decided to perk up the image of the group and one of the issues was identity, particularly the letterhead. After a few amateur attempts it was decided to run a competition among the members for the design of a logo.

The response was overwhelming with great use of initiative, artistic skills and imaginative designs by those who entered. This gave the committee a headache trying to pick a winner but one did finally emerge.

The winning design was created by Gareth Sloan whose theme of a friendship wheel has been adopted as the basis for the new logo.

Gareth was congratulated at a ceremony in the Adult Centre when he was awarded a certificate with a prize by representatives of the Friends.

Austin Heatley from the committee said: “I was amazed at the quality of the entries and while there had to be a winner it was a close run race. Well done Gareth, everyone is proud of your achievement”
