Gay was appointed manager of the Atlas Centre in 2009 when it was based in Sloan Street, Lisburn and since then she has managed to secure the funding to enable the centre to move to bigger premises in Bachelor’s Walk, so increasing the number of clients/students and users.

She has helped stage many fundraising events - from bingo nights to flash mobs.

Gay has also found time to cycle around Lough Neagh to raise money for Homestart, another charity close to her heart.

Known for loving people and loving her work, she is focused on her goals and constantly looking for new funding ideas. She invariably manages to find money from a wide variety of sources, all to help others.

Indeed Gay’s indomitable drive and breadth of vision has been credited with nothing less than ensuring Atlas’s continuing existence.
