Although no closing date has been decided Harry and Barbara McKee will soon be pulling down the shutters permanently and retiring after manning the store on Main Street for 37 years.

The DIY shop is closing as there is no one to take up the reigns after the couple step down.

“We have two children but they have their own careers,” Barbara said.

The couple plan to enjoy their retirement.

“We have a number of things we’ve always wanted to do but never got the chance,” Barbara said. “We plan on using the time to go through that list.”

Barbara had a parting message for all of Geddis and McKee’s loyal customers over the years.

She said: “We appreciate any customers we have. I have plenty of good memories. I’d like to wish everyone the best for the future and thank them for their custom down the years.”

The retail unit, on 69 Main Street in Moira, is available to let from Friday 1 April and is being handled by Longstone Estate Agents.

A statement from Longstone Estate Agents on propertypal.com said: “This is a rare opportunity to rent a traditional shop unit with large display windows which extends to 2300sqft.

“An office and toilet are situated to the rear. Above the shop is a first floor storage area of approx 860sqft.

“There is a rear access to the shop from Meeting Street.”

The length of the lease offered is a minimum of 60 months.

A price for the retail unit will be revealed upon application.

The property has been listed since 29th February.
