Get along to annual church sale!

PORTSTEWART Presbyterian Church’s popular annual Christmas Fair will be held this Saturday.

The long-established event is one of the most exciting and varied in the borough, where visitors can view and purchase from local exhibitors or the ladies’ cake stall, enjoy a cup of tea with a traybake and scone, meet Santa, search for the answers to a quiz or have their child’s face painted.

The variety of stalls has broadened from past years and includes Kildowney Nursery with their extensive range of plants and floral wreaths, The Bookcase, Portrush, showing many interesting and rare local publications, alongside Alastair McCook whose specialist books and unique photographs appeals to many.

Megagems hand-made jewellery and Sam Swartz Crafty Cats Fabric Painting attract many discerning followers as will newcomers Christine Cartwright, with a unique range of gifts, candles and cups and Joy’s Knit-Knots, offering exclusive children’s knits and crocheting - making choice difficult but rewarding.

Forever Living Products, Londonderry, return with their Aloe Vera and other beauty products after making many new friends on a number of previous years and the Little Teashop has become a firm favourite with those with a sweet tooth.

Shopping for children’s Christmas toys? McIntyre’s, The Promenade, who always carried an amazing range in their original large premises, offer the remainder of their stock exclusively to patrons at our Fair.

As if all this weren’t enough, Roy Watton, well-known in the area for his superb fretwork and woodcraft, finally has found a gap in his busy schedule to trade in Portstewart, alongside Hilda’s Hobbies who specialise in hand-cut plywood gifts.

Connoisseurs of confectionary will be lining up to taste and buy the beautiful home-made fudge, prepared to special recipes and available in numerous flavours from Mark Kane - another first for our fair!

The R.N.L.I. are to be represented sponsoring their organisation with a display of literature and promotional material. And Taylor’s Potatoes, will feature as will the seasonal berried holly and donated plants.

Robert Anderson’s new book Even More Fading Memories will also be on sale.

It features 100 old photos from Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart areas and is available at £12, with proceeds shared between Agherton Parish Building Fund and The Caring Caretaker’s charities. Robert will be on hand to sign the books,
