Get behind the Masterplan, says Retail Trade chief

On a visit to Ballymoney last week to meet with Mayor John Finlay and Chamber President Winifred Mellett, the Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association Chief Executive, Glyn Roberts urged support for the new Town Centre Masterplan and commended the Council for passing a -0.25% Business Rate.

NIIRTA Chief Executive Glyn Roberts said: “NIIRTA is very happy to give its support to the new Masterplan, which sets out ambitious, but achievable objectives to enhance Ballymoney Town Centre.

“Ballymoney, unlike many other towns, has good car parking and a strong transport infrastructure which is essential to grow the potential of its town centre.

“The key challenge is for Ballymoney to build upon its excellent reputation for independent retail and to offer something different from the same old clone town of chain stores.

“Linenhall Street in particular offers much potential for creating Retail Incubator Units to assist with the next generation of independent retailers opening new shops.”
