‘Get behind the Poppy Appeal’ urges Mayor

The Mayor of Coleraine, councillor David Harding has urged the public to get behind this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Speaking last week, as Council agreed details on this year’s Remembrance Sunday services, Mayor Harding said: “The annual Poppy Appeal is a very significant time in our calendar; it is an opportunity to reflect on those brave people who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us. I would ask that residents of this Borough continue to give their support and get behind this year’s Poppy Appeal.

“Remembrance is not just about those who fought in the two World Wars of the last century, but is also about the servicemen and servicewomen involved in the many other conflicts that have taken place around the world since 1945. They continue to protect our peace and freedom today.”
