Get behind the wheel of new Banbridge Motor Club

THERE was exciting news this week for any car enthusiasts in the Banbridge area.

A new Motor Club has been formed in the town, aptly named ‘Banbridge Motor Club’, formed by a group of enthusiasts from the area who came together at last year’s car show in the town and they have great plans for the year ahead.

A club spokesman announced this week that the Club was formed to bring together enthusiasts in the area who have an interest in cars. Although the club won’t be specifically motorsport orientated the club will be allowed to take whatever direction the members wish. The plan is to set up committees to steer particular interests.

Primarily the Club have taken over the organisation of the Banbridge Motor and Sport Car Show, which was organised and promoted by local man Drew Gregg. This will be their first task however the long term plan is to see the club organising ‘runs’, other non-sport events, safety seminars and social events in the area relating to cars.

Drew, who is the driving force behind this new club said that he was delighted with the result of last year’s show and the formation of this new Motor Club.

“We had a fantastic wee team last year and we all thought it would be such a waste if we didn’t take it to the next logical step, that being forming ourselves into a proper constituted club,” he said.

“That has now happened and the comments of support we have received in the past week have been fantastic and extremely encouraging.”
