Get on your bike to celebrate peddle power in Lisburn

Speaking at the Launch of Lisburn Bike Week Alderman Allan Ewart, Chairman of Lisburn City Centre Management, said, “I encourage everyone, including those who haven’t been on their bikes for some time, to get involved by getting the bikes out, coming to the events or exploring the local area to find out just how convenient cycling is for all those short trips we make each day.”

Karen Mawhinney, Chairman of Lisburn Road Safety Committee added, “Cycling and public transport are a great way to travel to work into and around the City Centre. We are keen to show everyone how accessible the area really is for all our visitors. We are also lucky to have a great cycle network on our doorstep with excellent cycle routes such as the award winning Sustrans cycle route that runs along the River Lagan linking Lisburn City Centre to Sprucefield and in the other direction the whole way to Belfast.”

As an extra incentive to all potential cyclists, there will be a prize draw and a free breakfast for everyone who cycles to work next Friday - June 22nd. The breakfast, supplied by a local cafe, will be available in Market Square between 7.30am and 10am.

To take part simply register yourself or your business for the breakfast and prize draw in advance by calling Lisburn City Centre Management on 028 9266 0625 or simply turn up on your bike or with your helmet.

All these events are free. Visit www.lisburnccm.co.uk or phone Lisburn City Centre Management on 9266 0625 for more information or to register to take part in the cycling events.
