‘Get Ready for Eddie’ Roadshow in Lisburn

Emergency Eddie, the World Police and Fire Games mascot, is on the road encouraging summer schemes across Northern Ireland to connect with the largest multi-sports events in the world.

The ‘Get Ready for Eddie’ Roadshow is visiting a range of summer schemes during the July school holiday period to promote the World Police and Fire Games and to highlight the importance of sport.

On July 29 Eddie was at a Lisburn City Council Summer Scheme held at Grove Activity Centre when young people experienced an action packed day focussing on fun and fitness.

The World Police and Fire Games which will attract thousands of competitors and their supporters from up to 70 countries will be held in Northern Ireland from August 1 to 10.

The 2013 World Police & Fire Games represents an opportunity for the public to watch competitors compete in a range of sports such as athletics, swimming, cycling, rugby and football, and some events such as the Ultimate Firefighter, Muster and Toughest Competitor Alive.
