'Get work finished'

ROADS Service has informed Moyle Council they have asked the developer of the Leyland Farm estate in Ballycastle 'to expedite all work which will complete this site in readiness for adoption as a public road.'

Roads Service has also informed the developer ‘that failure to carry out the required work in the near future will result in enforcement action to secure completion.’

The issue of the road has been raised by Independent councillor Seamus Blaney in the past.

And Cllr Paudie McShane is also fighting to get a resolution.

He said the main road leading into Leyland Farm has remained incomplete for several years.

Cllr McShane, in a statement to the Times, said: “Roads Service promised both the residents of Leyland Farm and myself, that the road would be complete in three months.

“That was January 2009. I welcome the fact that Roads Service will use enforcement action to secure completion should the developer fail to live up to his obligations.

“Developers are bound by legislation to complete their roads. Leyland Farm has become a serious safety issue given that cars are exchanging sides of the Road to avoid obstacles such as manholes and drainage grates. This issue needs to be completed in the immediate future and we will keep highlighting the same until it is realised.”
