Get your faulty bus pass changed

Translink has launched a new improved process to replace concessionary smartpasses that are faulty or have been damaged, lost or stolen.

There are currently over 300,000 ‘active’ 60Plus and Senior SmartPasses across Northern Ireland that provide an essential service by keeping more people on the move using public transport and improving overall quality of life.

During a trial period from August 1 – November 30, replacement concessionary smartpasses can be obtained quickly and free of charge using the following convenient Translink service:

A smartpass customer with a faulty or damaged pass can simply exchange it at a Translink ticket office for a 7 day ‘Faulty Smartpass Receipt’ which will provide them with free travel on buses and trains for a 7 day period during which time a new free replacement pass will be issued and sent directly to the card holder’s home address.

Anyone with a concessionary smartpass that has been lost or stolen can simply advise their local Translink station or Translink’s Ticketing Department who will hotlist the pass to avoid fraudulent use and immediately order a replacement free of charge.

Translink’s Ciaran Doherty says this development will save customers money and provide greater convenience: “Thousands of people rely on their concessionary smartpass to travel by public transport for work, leisure, attending appointments, shopping or socialising - they are a vital part of everyday life.

“We want to ensure everyone entitled to a concessionary smartpass has easy access to one with no obstacles preventing their use. That’s why we’ve introduced this new simple replacement process should their card be lost, stolen, faulty or damaged.

“This is a great opportunity to get a replacement concessionary smartpass free of charge. We will be monitoring the success of this trial with a view to rolling it out on a more permanent basis so would encourage everyone in need of a replacement to get in touch with us so they can fully enjoy the benefits of travelling by public transport,” Ciaran added.

The new replacement process applies to the following concessionary smartpasses: Senior, 60 Plus, War Disablement, Blind and ROI Senior. For further information contact Translink on 028 90 66 66 30.
