Getting a flavour of the Causeway Coast and Glens

That’s because it was used by local chefs who swapped their kitchens for a cookery theatre in the town centre.

The event was part of Causeway Coast and Glens Restaurant Week which celebrates the vibrant restaurant scene across the region.

The chefs had plenty of ingredients to choose from as the market now features over 35 traders selling everything from pesto and pasta sauce to fresh fish and the finest meats.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey, was on hand to sample the theatre’s culinary delights.

She said: “Causeway Speciality Market has really gone from strength to strength. With such a diverse range of products on offer it’s an ideal showcase for the best of what our region has to offer.

“It was fantastic to see the produce cooked up in front of us and I was delighted to pick up some tips from some of the region’s best chefs. Causeway Coast and Glens Restaurant Week celebrates the range and quality of our restaurants and there’s no doubt that our local producers play a vital role in this.”

Causeway Coast and Glens Restaurant Week is a new initiative by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Almost thirty businesses took part in the inaugural event, offering everything from theme nights, walking tours and special taster evenings.

It’s now hoped it will become a regular offering on the region’s growing calendar of events and attractions.
