Getting a slice of procurement pie

A series of ‘Meet the Buyer’ workshops are being hosted by Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne Borough Councils to explain public sector procurement to local businesses.

The three councils – which will form Mid and East Antrim District Council from April 2015 – recognise the importance of assisting suppliers, especially small and medium enterprises, in understanding public procurement in the lead up to local government reform.

Training will be given on the procurement process and the e-sourcing system to help equip local businesses with practical skills to help them successfully tender for public sector business. Attendees will also be able to ask questions and meet with managers.

With £3.2 billion spent annually on public sector procurement, there are plenty of opportunities for local businesses and the Councils would encourage as many suppliers as possible to take advantage of these events to ensure they understand the existing processes and the plans for transition.

The workshops for the Ballymena area will take place on Tuesday, November 4 from 9.30am – 11.00am at The Braid, Ballymena and Thursday, November 20 from 6.00pm – 7.30pm at the same venue.

Space is limited and places must be booked by submitting a completed registration form. Registration forms and further information are available from Cheryl Johnson on 028 9335 8000 or email [email protected].
