On Wednesday, August 24, 148 avid runners took part in Resurgams Annual 3K Fun Run.

This was Resurgam’s third successful year running this family fun event and the event was organised primarily to promote a healthy activity involving the community, to encourage those to use this as a community running or walking route and also to raise funds for the development of LaganView Community Gym.

The Fun Run was started by the Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh Borough Council, Brian Bloomfield whose wife actually decided last minute to walk the route with a member of the community.

Alternative therapists were also available to provide massage to those after completing the event. Thanks were offered to those who had stalls on the night including Boots Pharmacy, NI Holistic Outreach Services, The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust – Health Development, Alcohol and You, Diabetes UK and Cancer Focus. Lisburn SAFE project whose volunteers were thanked for patrolling the route at various stages along the way to ensure the safety of all runners.

Trust Director Adrian Bird said:” Our Annual fun run has only been going for three years but has become a very popular family event. It is great to see our community come together to raise much needed funds and in doing so promote personal health. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff and volunteers for organising this very successful event.” LaganView Community Gym Steering Group would like to thank their sponsors which included Lisburn Castlereagh City Council, Kennedy Business Systems, Coca-Cola Hellenic and the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust.
