The event, planned for March 19 will celebrate the UK’s most read children’s book, as well as raising funds for a good cause.

The Giant Wiggle will bring together Cookstown’s under-5s to wiggle along in giant caterpillar conga lines, encouraging them to help others, and opening up their imaginations through storytelling and creative activities.

Dawn Shaw, operational director of children’s services at Action for Children, said: “We want to celebrate Eric Carle’s beloved book by encouraging children to get active and have fun.

“By hosting a sponsored Giant Wiggle you will help us to support vulnerable children, young people and families in the heart of communities Cookstown and across NI.”

Action for Children provides early years child development, learning and childcare services to thousands of children and families through its 26 services in Northern Ireland.

In March 2014, more than 32,000 children from nearly 800 schools, creches and nurseries took part in The Giant Wiggle, raising £80,000 for Action for Children.
