On Monday evening the actress took time out of her busy schedule to support Deborah McCarthy’s business venture, ‘Deborah McCarthy Hairdressing’ on Railway Street.

Gillian, the star of BBC2 crime drama The Fall, is currently filming in Belfast. She said she was only too happy to come along and help Deborah out.

The petite blonde was accompanied by co-stars Emmett Scanlan, Bronagh Waugh and Gerard McCarthy – Deborah’s brother.

Deborah works as the resident hairstylist on set of The Fall and runs the new salon.

The 26-year-old became friends with the Chicago born actress when they met during the debut series of The Fall.

In 2012, Deborah was based in Australia when she received an urgent phonecall offering her the once in a lifetime opportunity to return to Belfast to work on the BBC drama.

Deborah has since become the go-to stylist for many high profile television and film productions. She said: “Since then I’ve gone on to work on television shows Game Of Thrones, Vikings and Line Of Duty.

“So, coming home was the best choice for me.”

Deborah said she is very excited about opening her first salon in Lisburn and was delighted when Gillian offered to open it for her.

She said working closely with Gillian has been fun but the fact that she lent her support in a way that she’s not obliged to meant a lot.

Deborah said she couldn’t wait to show the actress around the salon and was excited to be opening the salon.

The former X Files FBI agent, who now keeps PSNI officers in check as DSI Stella Gibson, was dressed head to toe in black. Gillian said: “I must admit, when I first met Deborah I thought she was very young and wasn’t sure, until she did my hair – and she was amazing.”

The 45-year-old actress said that while she could not reveal any of the plot lines of series two of The Fall, she promised viewers would be gripped.

“All I can say is that this series is going to be a lot more explosive and intense,” she teased.

“You wouldn’t want to miss it.”

Of her co-star Jamie Dornan, Gillian had only high praise, saying that “he’s just one of the loveliest young men and I’m really happy for him with his success and his family, he’s just a sweetheart, he’s a great guy.”
