Girlschool set to rock the Diamond

NEW WAVE of British Heavy Metal darlings, Girlschool, will be performing their first gig anywhere in Ireland for over 25 years at the Diamond Rock Club in Ahoghill this Saturday, October 16.

Formed in 1975 and probably most famous for their relationship with Motorhead, the girls are officially the longest running all-female rock band in the world.

Featuring Kim McAulifee on guitar and vocals, Enid Williams on Bass and vocals, Denise Dufort on drums and Jackie Chambers on Guitar, the girls still retain three of the four original members that formed the band way back in the 70s.

Throughout their career, the band have performed on the world’s top stages alongside the likes of Black Sabbath, Rush, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and of course Motorhead, to name but a few.

To date the band have released over 15 albums, the latest of which Legacy also features the late great Ronnie James Dio and have several top 20 singles, including ‘St Valentine’s Day Massacre’ recorded with Motorhead which reached number five in the charts.

Support on the night comes from top local band, and huge Diamond favourites Last Known Addiction. LKA are currently in the process of recording their debut album, which should hopefully be released by the end of the year. To date the members of LKA have shared stages with Black Stone Cherry, The Answer, Doro Pesch, Tygers of Pan Tang, The Quireboys, Gun and Dragonforce amongst others.

Tickets can be obtained from behind the bar at The Diamond or online at www.wegottickets.com and doors as always open at 8.30pm on the night.
